Call us to schedule your future on-site event, or order off-site catering! You can plan with peace of mind - if we cannot hold your event because of government-imposed COVID restrictions, you will get a full refund of your deposit.
COVID-19 Operations
As of January 4, 2021, we’re permitted to have 10% of our fire code occupancy (including staff). This prevents us from reaching our minimum of 30 guests for in-house events, so at the moment we’re limited to off-site catering (for any number, but again a minimum of 30), and planning for future events.
COVID Preparedness
Once restrictions are lifted so that we’re permitted to have more guests in-house, we’ll do everything required by the state - and more - to ensure the safety of you, your guests, and our staff. Kitchen personnel wear KN-95 masks during food preparation. Servers will wear both KN-95 masks and face shields, and will wash and sanitize their hands more often than normally required. The bar has a plexiglass shield to separate bartenders and guests. We’ve modified serving and self-serving protocols to minimize contact by multiple people. Touchless hand sanitizer dispensers are available in multiple locations (the restroom faucets and soap dispensers have always been touchless).
We’ve also purchased air purifiers with H13 HEPA filters that can clean the air in the hall twice an hour. Although no air purifier can completely protect you from COVID (or any other virus), the one we’ve chosen will be very effective in increasing the safety inside the hall: ’In 3rd party independent testing, the Alen BreatheSmart 75i removed over 99% of virus particles from a 1,050 CuFt test chamber within 20 minutes. These bioaerosol lab tests used an FDA-approved live COVID-19 proxy (MS-2 bacteriophage). Tests also showed over 99% removal throughout the entire COVID-19 particle size range (.06 - .120 microns).’ Click here to read more about these air purifiers.
An elegant option for your special event.
In our beautifully remodeled facility, you’ll get pampered. We provide all the logistical needs, then set up and clean up - all you need do is show up and have a great time! We can host any kind of event - weddings, showers, parties, reunions, luncheons, business events, funerals, and more. We tailor everything to your specific desires, and you’ll find the cuisine as exceptional as the venue. We also provide off-site catering, and box lunches. The pricing provided on this site is bottom-line - there are no hidden fees. Make sure to check out the pictures from events we’ve hosted, and Testimonials of previous clients and their guests. Please contact us for a tour!
The Springfield comfortably seats (once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted) up to 175 guests for events with a dance floor, 200 without a dance floor, and 240-250 for fundraiser events such as bingo. We also have ample AV resources to host corporate events.
Welcome to American Legion Post 176 Springfield Website
Post 176 Springfield was established in 1955 by Legionnaire Edwin Dentz, read more on our history link. Post 176 is the largest Post (sq. footage and membership) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with well over 1500 members which include The American Legion (TAL), the Sons of American Legion (SAL), Ladies Auxiliary, (AUX) and Legion Riders. Post 176 is thriving with an outstanding Executive Committee (EXCOM), Legion family interaction, active volunteer members, and a General Manager who has been focusing on major capital improvements and upgrades within the Post. Bad bingo sycuan. These are just a few examples of what creates our current Esprit de Corp which is unmatched and unparalleled.
Post 176 is proud to execute the American Legion’s mission within our community by providing Veterans and their families with program support, events and ceremonies, delivered with honor, dignity and professionalism by our American Legion Post 176 family. As with any organization, it is the members that make the organization what it is! Join, transfer or become active in our Post and you will clearly understand the joy and honor I feel as a member of this outstanding organization.
I encourage you to browse our website and links provided and view some of our photo albums on our Facebook site, our outstanding Post Scripts, our calendar of events (see “Master Calendar of Events” under the Meeting/Events menu item) to include information on our General Membership Meetings (GMM) as well as more details on our entire Legion family. We have what I believe is one of the most outstanding weekly email announcements ever published in the history of the Post, called Post 176 E-News, which informs our members and local community leaders on our upcoming events, ceremonies and volunteer opportunities. Please be sure to provide us with your most updated email address so you can receive our weekly E-News.
If you are already a member of Post 176, this website has been built for YOU, if you are already Legionnaire, but not a Post 176 member, then I encourage you to transfer into our Post and join our Post family. If you are not a member yet, then I hope this site helps you in making a decision to join the largest Veterans Organization in the country and help us make a difference by executing the Legion Mission and supporting your fellow Veterans in our community.
We used to say “It’s a great day to be in the (name your Service)”, now we say “It’s a great day to be a Legionnaire”. Post 176 allows us the opportunity to truly fulfill our mission of “Veterans Serving Veterans and their Families”.
